DELF B2 writing: what to write when you have no ideas

Start with one person, one problem and one consequence.

On this page

Start with a situation

A cinema plans to sell tickets only through its app. You are writing to the manager: explain a concern and suggest another option.

Find one person affected

Picture a customer who arrives with a flat phone battery. Even if seats are available, they cannot buy a ticket at the counter. They might miss the film. You now have a reason to keep on-site sales.

Turn notes into a sentence

Start with rough notes. Then name the practical problem.

client sans téléphone → impossible d’acheter sur place → garder le guichetcustomer without a phone → unable to buy a ticket on site → keep the ticket counter
Selling tickets only through an app risks making it harder for some customers to access the cinema.

Add the example and a solution

The example supports the reason. The final sentence answers the problem rather than changing the subject.

Selling tickets only through an app risks making it harder for some customers to access the cinema. For example, someone whose phone battery is flat would no longer be able to buy a ticket at the counter, even if the screening were not sold out. They might then decide not to attend. It would therefore be useful to keep on-site ticket sales while offering the app to those who prefer it.

Acknowledge a benefit

You can support the app as an option while disagreeing with making it compulsory.

The app can make booking in advance easier, but it should not become the only way to buy a ticket.
